How our gold rate works

Gold is priced by weight and purity. Our 916 rate is the price per gram of 22K gold, which is 91.6% pure. When you buy a piece, its price is the rate multiplied by its weight, plus a making charge for the craftsmanship, plus 9% GST. We break every quote down into those three lines before you pay.

We publish three rates each day. The selling rate is for gold in new jewellery. The cash buy-in rate is what we pay when you sell your old gold. The trade-in rate is what your old gold counts for towards a new piece.

Where does the rate come from?

Gold is traded internationally in US dollars per troy ounce. Converted to Singapore dollars per gram and adjusted for 22K purity, that gives the market price of 916 gold; jewellers then set their own rate. Read how gold prices are set in Singapore for the detail.

You can also see our rates on the live rate board, the same figures shown in the showroom.

About our gold rate

What does the 916 gold rate include?

It is the price of the gold itself, per gram of 22K (91.6%) gold. The price of a piece of jewellery is the rate multiplied by its weight, plus a making charge for the craftsmanship and 9% GST. Read more

How often does the rate change?

Gold prices move with the international market, so we set our rates every day and publish them here and on our live rate board. Check the time shown beside the rate.

Why is the buy-in rate lower than the selling rate?

The selling rate is what you pay for gold in new jewellery; the buy-in rate is what we pay when you sell gold to us for cash. The trade-in rate applies when your old gold goes towards a new piece. Read more

What is the Singapore market rate?

It is the local benchmark for 916 gold that we compare our rate against, so you can see how our selling rate sits against the market. Read more
