Trade in your old gold in Singapore

At Minora Jewels in Little India, you can trade in old gold and put its value towards a new piece of 916 jewellery. We publish our trade-in rate every day, next to our cash buy-in rate, so you can see what your gold is worth either way before you visit our showroom at 142 Dunlop Street.

How does a gold trade-in work?

A trade-in is a gold exchange in one visit:

  1. We value your old gold on its weight and purity at the day's trade-in rate.
  2. You choose your new piece.
  3. The value of your old gold is set against the price of the new one, and you pay the difference.

The new piece is quoted in the usual way, with gold value, making charge and GST shown separately, so you can see exactly how the trade-in value is applied.

When does trading in make sense?

A trade-in suits you when you already plan to buy. Common reasons include:

  • updating a design you no longer wear,
  • turning several small or single pieces, such as odd earrings, into one piece you will use,
  • reducing the cost of a larger purchase, such as a wedding set.

Because the trade-in value and the new piece are handled in the same visit, you see the full picture on one itemised quote before you commit.

Trade-in or cash buy-in: what is the difference?

Our rate board shows two rates for the gold you bring in:

Rate What you get
Trade-in Credit towards a new piece
Cash buy-in Cash for your gold

Compare both on today's gold rate before you decide. If you would rather have the money, see selling your gold for cash.

What can I trade in?

Old, broken or unworn gold jewellery can all be traded in, because it is valued on the gold it contains. Stones and other non-gold parts do not count towards the weight. If you are not sure what your piece is, 916 or 999? Gold purity explained is a useful start, and we can check it with you in the showroom.

Trading in is not the only option for heirloom gold. If you would like to keep the gold but change the design, our custom and redesign service can rework it into something you will wear.
