Minora Jewels sells 916 (22K) gold jewellery from our showroom at 142 Dunlop Street in Little India: bangles, chains, necklaces, earrings and rings. What you will find in the showroom
Our counters are laid out by piece, so you can compare styles side by side:
- Bangles, from slim everyday bands to heavier carved designs
- Chains, plain and patterned, with or without pendants
- Necklaces, including traditional Indian designs such as the Bombay necklace
- Earrings, from studs to jhumkas
- Rings for everyday wear and for gifting
Designs change as new pieces arrive. Follow @minorajewels to see what is new, or walk in any time; no appointment is needed.
Why is most Indian jewellery 916?
916 means the gold is 91.6% pure, the same as 22 karat. The small share of silver or copper makes it strong enough to hold its shape in bangles and chains, while keeping the deep yellow colour people expect from Indian gold. Pure 24K gold is too soft for pieces you wear every day.
If you are weighing up the two, read 22K or 24K gold: which should you buy? and 916 or 999? Gold purity explained.
How is a piece priced?
Every quote we give is split into three lines, so you can check each one:
| Line | How it is worked out |
|---|---|
| Gold value | The day's 916 rate per gram × the weight of the piece |
| Making charge | The labour and craftsmanship in the design |
| GST | 9%, charged on the selling price of jewellery |
The first line uses the same rate we publish on today's gold rate. For more on reading a quote, see how to check a gold price quote.
Solid, hollow or plated: ask before you buy

Two chains can look the same and weigh very differently, depending on whether they are solid gold, hollow gold or gold-plated. Ask us about any piece and we will tell you exactly how it is made, so you know what you are paying for. Why some chains feel light explains the difference.
Questions we’re asked
Can I see the purity of a piece before I buy it?
Yes. Ask to see the 916 stamp on the piece, and the purity and weight are written on your receipt.
Do I need an appointment to look at jewellery?
No. The showroom is open every day from 10.30am to 9.30pm, and you can walk in any time.
Do you also sell 24K gold?
We sell 24K gold as bars and coins for saving. Our jewellery is 916 (22K), which is strong enough to wear.
Can I put my old gold towards a new piece?
Yes. We accept trade-ins at the trade-in rate we publish each day, and the value is set against the new piece.
