Sell your gold for cash in Little India, Singapore

Minora Jewels buys gold for cash at our showroom on Dunlop Street in Little India. We publish our cash buy-in rate for 916 gold every day, so you can check it before you visit. Your gold is valued on its weight and purity at that day’s rate, and you can walk in any time without an appointment.

How is the price for my gold worked out?

The price we offer comes down to the weight of the gold and the day's buy-in rate for its purity. For 916 gold, that is the rate we publish every day.

Stones, beads and other non-gold parts are not gold, so they do not add to the weight that is valued. Making charges paid when the piece was bought are not part of the buy-in price, which is why selling gold returns less than buying new.

  1. Weight of the gold

In grams. Stones, beads and other non-gold parts are not counted.

  2. Today’s buy-in rate for its purity

    For 916 (22K) gold, S$153.00 a gram today.

Our published buy-in rate is for 916 gold; ask us how other purities are valued. Work out your own figure on today’s gold rate.

What affects the price I am offered?

Two pieces of the same size can be worth very different amounts:

  • Purity. 916 gold is 91.6% gold; lower-karat pieces contain less gold per gram.
  • Construction. Hollow pieces weigh less than solid ones of the same size, so they contain less gold. Gold-plated items are mostly base metal and are not bought at gold rates. Solid, hollow or plated? explains how to tell.
  • The day's rate. The buy-in rate follows the gold market and changes daily.

Ask us to show you how the figure is reached, line by line, before you decide.

What should I bring?

Old gold jewellery to sell: a chain, a hoop earring and a ring beside a cloth pouch and a folded receipt

Bring the gold you want to sell and, if you have them, any receipts showing purity. For large cash transactions, Singapore rules require dealers to check your identity, so bring your NRIC or passport. Selling or trading in old gold explains the rules in more detail.

Should I sell for cash or trade in?

If you plan to buy something new, compare the cash buy-in rate with the trade-in rate. Both are on the daily rate board. Trading in credits your old gold against a new piece; selling pays you for it. Our gold trade-in page explains how that works.

Questions we’re asked

Do you buy broken or old-fashioned jewellery?

Gold is valued on its weight and purity, so broken or unworn pieces are valued in the same way as any other gold.

Do I need an appointment to sell gold?

No. Walk in any time during opening hours, 10.30am to 9.30pm every day.

Will I get back what I paid for the jewellery?

Usually not. What you paid included a making charge and GST, and the buy-in price is based only on the gold at today’s rate.

Where can I see today’s buy-in rate?

On our gold rate page and on the live rate board at rate.minorajewels.com, updated by the shop each day.
